I got a Sienna last year and would like to see someone use this. If you come with rear seat removed I'll advise about installation.
NIfty, seem like the back half could be something I could use.... Will that support weight on its own?
Nice work, as a hobbyist woodworker, I am impressed by the fabrication techniques and pins used to make this platform fully functional, yet allow it to be easily disassembled to allow the front seats to move back. SM-S936U ?
Nope. I'll see if I can find some photos. I couldn't find any pix to prove the point but I used this rig heavily for 2 years without any issues.
I also have supports for, and a platform that is about 60% of the width behind the seats. With that one, the driver's seat can move into driving position. I think a twin mattress in there with a little less headroom.
This is one of the best fabrications I have seen for a seat removal camping setup. Nice work! In case someone reads this in the future, another option is to recline the front seat BACK and it becomes level with the rear seat. Then I place a plastic drawer unit on the front seat (drawyer opens out the door). A cut piece of plywood extends from the front glove compartment to the rear tailgate, providing well over eight feet of flat surface. Less storage then a seat removal strategy, but there is storage between the front seat back (which is reclined) and the plywood. Also, no modification to the car, which can be driven with this setup in place (no passengers, thought!).
