Went to go out and it wouldn't start so managed to jump it. Then after about 1/2 mile I stopped and when reversing I saw quite a bit of white/ grey smoke in the canara. Now I know the engine is still cold but I will check the oil and coolant shortly and expect the worst.

I think though at 260000 the hg has been done as there are bolts missing from the wiper cowl and also seepage of oil from the timing chain or tensioner area.
When someone replaces the hg on these do the use an original from Toyota or is there a better upgrade you can get, just wondered.
As for the not starting I think I didn't have the tailgate (you call it a trunk there) closed properly and the small bulb inside drained the 12v battery overnight.

It's not the head gasket blowing because of low quality It's because the EGR becomes absent or nearly absent and temperature is go up across the head heating things up probably causing some sort of damage years ago a company in America and Skokie Illinois call FellPro made PT permanent torque blue PTFE covered gasket. These were solid multi-layered sandwiched things unlike today we're all the gaskets head gaskets anyway have turned into multilayers of metal that are literally riveted together with a rivet that just is sacrificial It's squashes and turns to nothing when you torque the gasket down. That's how all of the modern head gaskets are today for the most part multi-layer metal like what you got when you bought your head gasket from Toyota the one from felpro looks just like the one from Toyota except it's blue and it's three layers I think now there are some that come up to five layers You can literally see five thin sheets of metal light on top of each other they're not glued or anything You can separate them if you want just to look at them. So I don't think the aftermarket is going to really be any better than the factory per se The technologies pretty much exactly the same. Then bolts get left out by the best of them it does happen most of the time nothing really becomes of it somebody might see it doing something else put a bolt where it goes. Or they don't

Wasn't paying atttention to the avatar name, plus flakey memory, attension span. Sorry.

Anyway, how about just pick one of your previous started threads (see attached, and I couldn't fit them all in one screen grab), stick to posting any-and-all in that one. It is one ongoing saga.

I was referring to the car in question, sarcastically. That eluded you?

No but it explains the UK response. The car version is two words.
