I thought that happened in post #10. But seriously, as of post #18 you correctly realized there's a vocabulary difference involved. And that vocabulary difference means what Mendel said was good-natured ribbing about the condition of the car. So if you're able to realize that, then doesn't that, well, change anything? rjparker in #17 focuses on whether there was a word space between the two syllables. But if we're going to make punctuation carry that much weight, well, if he had meant 'creampuff' the other way, wouldn't it have been preceded by a comma?
