I noticed the SOS button flashing red and green this month on my 2020 Prius Prime with 72,900 miles on it. I purchased it the end of February 2020 and I have never subscribed to this service. The car runs perfectly. Thus, I am inclined to ignore it if it doesn't annoy me too much. From what I read it isn't something an independent mechanic can likely fix and I am trying to stay away from dealerships if I can. Any thoughts, opinions or suggestions?
A dude at Toyota Nation that has used the Safety Connect feature says that if you push the SOS button it should call an operator. He also remarks that the subscription has lower price and was discontinued in 2022. Also mentions G3 to G4 switch, which also effects the early versions of Gen 4s entune features which are all 3G - until the Prius 2020 refresh that are now G4 - I think, but you guys with the refresh should be able to tell easier than I can if you've got G3 or G4 cell service in your cars. Unfortunately no. I've just tuned it out. It doesn't really bother me anymore, but I guess it might be anoying to explain if I ever sold it private party.
