Bought the car because I had to, not because I wanted to.

Wondering if anyone was in the same situation as me.

I had a 2015 Lexus CT200h in pristine condition until hit pretty hard by a driver who ended fighting with CHP and getting arrested. I was paid out fairly and was actually in the market for a UX250h.

I finally found a decent Green one (the only one I wanted) and it was literally sold while I was on the way to see it.

The 24 Prius basically had better specs than the UX250h in just about every category, except all of the luxury benefits that I have come to miss. Even my CT felt more premium than the Prius. But I digress.

A Ford or Hyundai hybrid was a non-starter for me, even at a better price point. And I'd rather die than drive around in a Corolla. The Accord Hybrid may have been the move here, but I wanted a hatchback since my other car is a 2-seater. If the 5th gen wasn't pretty I would not have bought it.

So now I have it and I drive it to work. The end.

There is now a Civic hatch hybrid for those of similar wants.

I don't know. I rented a Corolla Hybrid recently and it got better mpg than my Gen3 prius. It was so quiet and the display was easy to use. It's the same drive train as the prius, I believe.
It's cute that your main thing is 'pretty'. Did you know you can't see the outside of a car when you are driving it?
I bet you dress Fabulously ! I just use my car as a tool to get somewhere, and I want to give the least amount of my money to Big Oil.

My view as well. If my car is painfully ugly, I can just not look at it when I lock it and walk away. How a car looks plays a big part when some of us buy, but a couple of days after the purchase, it's just your car.

I understand the Corolla to have the older 1.8 liter hooked up to the same general hybrid system. I had a Corolla hatch. It's a very good car, easier to get in and out of if you are old, fat and awkward (which I am). It has some of the most intuitive control layouts I've ever had and the steering wheel is the right size for the control stalks; in the Prius, the way I have the seat and wheel, the wheel obstructs the odometer buttons and headlight control.

A Corolla sedan is also shorter than a Prius, yet has a more passenger friendly rear seat. And it uses normal tire sizes.

I couldn't get clear info on the hp of the rear motor when I was looking around, and like OP I didn't want a sedan.

It would be my choice to replace the v. It has a 2.0L hybrid with 196 hp while maintain high mpg almost identical to the v. Along with a price I paid in 2011. All significant safety features standard.

The Prius is too small and pricey.

The SE Hybrid below is one notch up from the S Hybrid which is less money

Egr cooler built into head, dual injection, electric variable intake timing with hydraulic exhaust timing.

Plus 12v battery with run down protection, lithium hv battery, towing capability, tire specific tpms and 120 vac outlet.

Where I live, the Gen 5 Prius is probably the least pretensious vehicle on the road. The exception is if you ask a previous Gen Prius owner - they'll tell you how it's the worst thing since the internet.

I DO believe that the car says something about its owner. Gen 5 is a nice middle ground.

Last month I narrowed down my new car search to the new Prius and a UX300h, the Corolla Cross was in contention until I decided on the UX300h. Then I checked out a slightly used UX250h in person and was disappointed in how cramped it felt. Also, I could not get the trim and color of UX300h I was interested in and then came the realization that the Prius (Limited w/awd) has more features & better gas mileage, almost as luxurious (more spacious) interior and cost around ten thousand dollars less, so I also ended up with the Prius. Originally I was concerned with the new Prius being too much of a head turner, a real stand out on the road, that is why I was so interested in the UX300h, it doesn't stand out as much but still has a bit of sportiness. But after weighing the pros and cons it became obvious to me.. However if Toyota could borrow some of the UX300h styling to apply to the Corolla Cross and keep that price down then they may get on to something there.

    @dabluesman

The ux250h was the successor to the CT250h, yet somehow has less usable space than both the new Prius and the CT. Big car outside, small car inside.

I hear you about the cost versus what you actually get. $10k buys you a Lexus badge and a quieter ride. The used ux250h I had my eye on was the same price as my Prius new and I was still ready to buy it, but the choice was made for and I'm happy with the Prius.

Yeah, if the UX was a little less SUV(it's more like the Lexus version of the Corolla Cross), I might have seriously considered it. But a comparable spec UX350h Premium AWD is just about $10k more than my Prius Limited AWD was, and it doesn't come with Panoramic View Monitor. If they had kept the CT and updated it to be the Lexus version of the gen5 Prius, I would've had a much harder decision a couple years ago.

The panoramic view cameras and digital rearview mirror were features I was excited about the Limited having, but sadly mine does not have those. Actually the only Ltd's I have seen with those features are the one's in youtube review videos, none at all in the real world, at least in my area..

Just adding that the UX is the Lexus C-HR. Which is styled to be more coupe like than the boxy SUV of the Corolla Cross. The C-HR was designed for Europe, and they are getting a gen2 of it. Toyota USA was never suppose to have a C-HR, but Scion was axed. Having already paid to introduce it here, they just rebadged it.

Seems the UX is a gen1 going on 7 years. Only sold 8877 last year. Guessing it will be replaced by a Cross based model at some point. Assuming Lexus just doesn't cancel the model.

Reasons for not going full EV? There are legitimate reasons for sure, depending on your situation, but I've been driving full EV for 14 years and wouldn't go back. Yes, we still have our gas-guzzler PIP, but in three weeks it will be a year since we put gas in it....

To add more curiosity to the mix, rumor has it - there'll be a C-HR+ (ev) that makes it into the USA in 2026. Personally, due to small car dislikes by the majority here, it'll likely just go to the EU outside of Asian countries. Another TGNA only platform

I won't date a woman wearing nice running shoes. I want her to wear those gadawful pointy toe high heels, only because she thinks that's what men want.

EVs didn't make sense for me because of where I live and the amount of miles I drive per week. I can't have level 2 charging installed. For the type of driving I do it probably makes the most sense though. I drive to work through a sea of Model Y's and it's funny how the Gen 5 Prius is scarce compared to those these days.
