    Just a fun observation.

    While driving on a very dusty road and then parking, I noticed something very strange about the "parking" (yea, I know they are used for lots more purposes) sensors, the dust was missing in certain areas. Once I remembered the sensors are ultrasonic, it was "Oh yea, that makes sense". I guess the sensors are strong enough to knock off light road dust! It was the case for all of my rear sensors. Now I know the active area of the sensor.

    A winter storm is predicted for when I head back to the mountains in a few days, so washing is going to wait... :)

    I drove through a snowstorm this past winter and the sensors got covered. I got a warning that I couldn't use adaptive cruise control unless I got out and wiped down the sensors.

    The radar isn't powerful enough to melt snow.

    @RichFilmaker :

    Yep, been there many times too! I guess that is the next feature coming, forget heated seats, steering wheels, or wipers, we need heated parking sensors! :) It could be worse for us though. My buddy with a Rivian loses adaptive cruise control in those circumstances too. So far for me it's been only the parking sensors.

    Shouldn't be using adaptive cruise control in those conditions to begin with. Rain and mist can degrade radar signals in use.

    Several times over the winter my car will shut down because of slush covering one of the sensors. A small heating element would save me getting out to clean it off in heavy traffic.
