You know you could just look this up on Google like I just did for ou:

To set your 2011 Toyota Prius to lock doors when driving, you need to adjust the auto-locking settings in the vehicle's customization menu. This can be done by navigating to the vehicle settings using the steering wheel controls, then selecting "Door Lock Settings" and enabling the "Auto Lock" feature. You can choose to lock doors when shifting out of park or when reaching a certain speed.

    1. 1. Access Vehicle Settings:
      • With the ignition on or in accessory mode, use the selector wheel on the right side of the steering wheel to navigate to the vehicle settings.
      • The vehicle settings icon (a gear symbol) will appear in the digital instrument cluster.
      • Push in the selector wheel to select the settings menu.
    2. 2. Navigate to Door Lock Settings:
      • Scroll through the settings until you find "Door Setup" or "Door Lock Settings".
      • Push in the selector wheel to select that option.
    3. 3. Enable and Customize Auto-Locking:
      • You'll find options for "Auto Door Lock".
      • Select "Auto Door Lock" and then choose your preferred setting:
        • "Shift from P": Locks doors when you shift out of park.
        • "With Vehicle Speed": Locks doors when the vehicle reaches a certain speed (typically around 10 mph).
        • "Off": Disables the auto-locking feature.
      • Select the desired setting and then confirm your choices by selecting the back icon.

    Example Scenario:
If you want the doors to lock when you shift out of park, you would select "Shift from P" as the setting for "Auto Door Lock".

That was one of the first features I turned off.

Not only is it noisy to have all the doors go kerchunk when I shift ...

I had to replace door lock actuators in my previous Prius that had worn out. And the actuators aren't cheap, except the eBay ones, and I had to buy three of those to get one that worked. And it's a tedious job taking the door apart. You notice that the second or third time.

I think my actuators in this car will last longer if they don't all needlessly kerchunk when I shift.

Thank you for that but I have tried that there is no such setting I don’t have a screen and I’m not sure what to do.

I read through that thread, seemed reminiscent of many similar internet debates, users trying to unravel a mishmash of misexplained programming. Nothing 100% definitive. Post #37 seems promising, might try.

I’m in accord with @ChapmanF, would like to minimize the locking/unlocking the car does, avoid wear-and-tear on the mechanism. We’re secure-garage stored for the most part, rarely lock it. Frustrating to have that undermined by auto-lock/unlock.

Yes. The method works. There are four locking options. Locking in parking, unlocking from parking, locking at speed 15, unlocking when opening the driver's door.

Somewhere else in the thread (if memory serves) someone said that doing any of the actions will enable the condition, and redoing it will disable it. My goal is the latter. Consensus was also that car must be fully “Ready” (engine cycling on/ off), not just “On”.

And how to determine your current status. I don’t hear obvious clunks from door locks, though they could be quiet, not sure. I do recall we were picking someone up and they found the door locked.
