I recently replaced both the ABS actuator and booster on my 2014 Prius. I had to replace the 12v battery due to the brake lights staying on, but that was because I didn't see the little disk that activates the switch for the lights fall off. The first battery I got was bad and had to replace it again, when installing I accidentally touched the two terminals but didn't think anything of it. Once I was done bleeding the brakes and recalibrating them. The codes cleared but the U0293 code came up. Looking at the other chats it says to check a 20A HEV fuse. I am looking both under the hood and dash but cannot locate it. Can someone give me a better idea of what to check. Thank you.
Error with index U is an error in the communication line between different systems for exchanging information. There may be damage in the communication line or in the sources of receiving and transmitting messages. U0293/59 With subcodes 411 412 413 Either of the following is detected: With the IG2 terminal voltage 9.5 V or more, data from the power management control ECU cannot be received for 2 seconds or more. With the IG2 terminal voltage 9.5 V or more, data from the power management control ECU cannot be received once or more within 5 seconds occur 10 times in succession. Trouble Area: CAN communication line (Power management bus) Power management control ECU (Hybrid vehicle control ECU) Brake booster with master cylinder (Skid control ECU) It is better to search for the HEV 20A fuse on the Gen2 2006-2008. You have a different car, right - it is a Prius Gen3?
I do believe it is new came from Fred Haas Toyota World Parts on Amazon. I admit I did not thoroughly research the seller as that was the only one available on Amazon at the time.
The CAN bus for exchanging information between different units of the car is shown in the diagram. You may have three options: The signal transmitter does not work. The line is damaged (short circuit or break) The signal receiver does not work. There is no information exchange between the units, conditions for an error arise. The conditions are repeated, the error is recorded. Assuming that everything worked before and you installed a conditionally new unit and it stopped working, then the reason lies in this unit. This does not guarantee 100%, but there is a high probability here. CAN U0293 by MAX2 posted Apr 24, 2025 at 9:06 AM
