Not sure I consider $2k as real skin in the game. Maybe a toenail clipping. I own two stocks, Honeywell left over from a great employee stock purchase and Resideo (REZI) which was a spin off from HON. I will never sell the HON, taxes on the 50 years of capital gains would be a Tesla plus a solar roof.
Small, yes, but a part of my spare capital after buying a solar roof. Part experiment, I had not shorted a stock before and it has been a fair test. Even small, it is more than zero. I also own a Tesla Model 3 with Full Self Driving. So I have an interest when the head of Tesla software for 12 years leaves. Meanwhile, a cadre of Musk favorites are “fixing” our government. They should be fixing the FSD problems. Once my short is closed, my interest in this thread will follow. Bob Wilson
Retested Full Self Driving with the construction blocked road: Left turn approach - hesitates and then drives in the opposing traffic lane to next intersection. Exciting the first time. Straight approach - signals a turn even showing original route through blocked street. Signals a safe turn and then remaps route. Right turn approach - some hesitancy looking for a way through but eventually through intersection to next right turn. It sure would be nice if Tesla had some Cracker Jack programmers to fix this problem. Bob Wilson
So what happens to the Tesla factory in China? Chinese made Teslas and parts just went up with a 145% (i.e. 2.45x increase) Chinese imported Teslas and parts just went up there 125% (i.e., 2.25x increase) I don't think the Model X or S are made in Chinas Sure am glad I'm short 10 shares TSLA today. Bob Wilson ps. It sure would be funny if the Chinese Tesla workers went on strike for a "145% pay increase." Or even a "14.5% pay increase."
Tesla removed the Model S & X from the order page bin China. I am not sure how many S & X Tesla sold in China last year, but it appears it will be zero after April.
Just an update:looks like in 2024 Tesla sold fewer that 2,000 Model S & X in China. So this wasn’t a big loss for them.
I would have shorted rivian. Since it's Inception? Bezos has taken a serious beating. The people that shorted probably made a boat load off Rivian. The mostly fiery but peaceful Tesla protesters could have picked an easier target worth going to jail over. .
Listening to audio ... worse. I had to stop the live audio. Musk is lost in a fantasy world of his own making. His love is tearing down the US government and like a toddler who pulls the wings off of a butterfly, totally oblivious that those efforts do not make TSLA more valuable. I'll be out of TSLA stock short next week at the latest. Bob Wilson
He cares more for his privately held companies, and those seem to be picking up new government contracts.
Tesla is being run by someone who I watched go insane which makes Tesla a toxic work environment. Musk tried the same pitch to his stockholders but I have already pushed that kool-aid away. I still like my 2019 Model 3 and spending $9,000 to get another six years and 150,000 miles. I knew and know the physics, chemistry, and engineering in that car and it remains the best bang for buck. But the competition (especially the Chinese) is catching up because Tesla is running in place led by a mad man. By the time my car reaches end-of-life, so too will its current advantages over today's competition. So I am buying the best, $9,000 car on the market today. Bob Wilson
When Tesla came out with their first car? I experienced how Elon treated their first potential customers when no one even knew If the car will ever be built. I was interested in the Tesla roadster and there was a $5k deposit required and then a few months later, I got an email stating that it will be increased to $8k and the reason was he didn’t have enough money to move forward. What ??? With that kind of response, was I supposed to feel confident that I can get my deposit back in case the company didn’t make it ? I knew then in the mid 2000s that Elon just can’t be trusted and I lost interest in Tesla sedans that followed!
At that time, Tesla setup a temporary dealer in Newport Beach and the Prius Club of OC was invited to test drive the Roadster. I drove it to Huntington Beach and almost didn't return the car back!
Leon will influence trunk in this matter to teslas benefit:Tesla's Optimus hit by China's rare earth restrictions, says Musk I wonder if he will leave his techbros at doge: Tesla CEO Musk says time he spends on DOGE will drop in May
You were there too?!? I rationalized the deposit increase was simply because there were so many wealthy that could afford it and the wait list was longer than production would ever be. Never imagined something like the model y, which could eventually outsell most every other car in his class

(TSLA) Q1 2025 Earnings Call Transcript | Seeking Alpha <1,142 words for what he has been doing instead of Tesla> . . . So, now let me walk you through why I'm so excited about the future of Tesla. So, first of all, autonomy. The team and I are laser focused on bringing robotaxi to Austin in June. Unsupervised autonomy will first be solved for the Model Y in Austin. And then -- actually you should parse out the terms robotic taxi or robotaxi and just generally like what's the Cybercab because we've got a product called the Cybercab and then any Tesla which could be an S3 extra wide that is autonomous is a robotic taxi or robotaxi. It's very confusing. So the vast majority of the Tesla fleet that we've made is capable of being a robotaxi or robotic taxi. This is where I bailed out to use Full Self Driving to a new Supercharger station and hand deliver a referral letter: Full Self Driving - scares the anyone with half a decade or more manual driving. The age group of customers who can afford a new car. Cybercab - a two seater with very efficient parts (i.e., low purchase price) but lacking driver controls. An unannounced, drive-by-wire control package will make it somewhat tolerable. Silos the owner/operator into buying only Tesla products in the future You buy and operate our Cybercab as a taxi service from Tesla (You first Elon!) My future is $9,000 for a replacement traction battery in my 150,000 mi, 6 year old Model 3. A car that has the same efficiency as the latest version. A car in hand is worth two in the Musk. Presuming there's an appointment involved w/ battery swap out, is it a full day job for them or just a few minutes as is the case with the X & the S
