The car has 320k miles on it, and needs a new head gasket (different car than what I just posted about). I was offered $1.2k from an online company that comes and picks it up for you. but I was just wondering if $2k would be reasonable on fb marketplace, etc. for parts. that online company is going to make money off of it somehow.
Demand drives trade. If hybrids are popular in your state, the price may be higher. Companies that take away faulty cars very rarely value them expensively, this is not a profitable undertaking. Additional funds must be invested in the car, and the sale price may not justify the investment.
$1.2K isn't a bad price with that many miles and a blown engine. Just be careful that the $1.2K doesn't evaporate between when you give them the car and you actually get paid. There's a lot of scammers that will give you a "certified check", only it doesn't work and your bank pulls the funds back out of your account a day or two later. If they talk with an Indian accent, that's a sure clue that they're not real. If they will buy your car sight unseen that's another red flag.
