Another thread inspired me to do a horn "upgrade". Instead of the Toyota premium horns, I went with the "FIAMM 74100 El Grande" set from Amazon. They are dual tone and much deeper sounding than the stock horns on my 2015 v. I guess the deeper sound is considered "premium". The install was a very easy swap and I didn't have to remove the emblem for access. The existing one wire plug just connects onto the blade terminal of these. I have always considered the stock horns to be very loud and adequate, so I wondered how much louder these would be given that they are much bigger and have a horn shape. I must say, though the sound is a lower frequency, they do not sound louder and may not even be as loud. This is according to my highly uncalibrated and untrained ears. The stock horns seem more "aggressive" or "frantic" compared to these. I did use a db meter phone app and both the El grande and stock horns read 89db from about 4ft away in front of the car. Given it's a phone app, that reading could be meaningless. But from in the car, the stock horns seem slightly louder to me. So I'm wondering if I should return these or look into a 3 or 4 horn setup just for fun. Maybe add a relay and the originals back in to get a 3 tone setup. Anyone else install more than 2 horns? Here is a recording, taken from the same distance away, of the stock horns and then the El Grandes. It seems you cannot attach an audio file or video file but you can attach a .zip. Here is a zipped mp3. Let me know if this doesn't work
The best horns I've found and I've installed are from a 99 taurus V6 car dual fiamm from factory. Loud. Free. Even bracket worked in Corolla and in Prius.
