I have spent days on trying to get this to work but am stuck and cannot find the info I need.

I'm installing a new Pioneer DMH-ZF7650BT aftermarket head unit into my 2009 Australian Prius i-Tech with broken DVD navigation and 4 disk CD player OEM unit. The car has park assist and radar cruise control and sun roof / solar panels. I think there is an audio amplifier under the driver seat on the right side, but no sticker to identify the exact make or model of the audio components.

The anti-theft 'feature' of the OEM sound / navigation head unit stopped the use of the reverse camera, navigation and all audio functions, because the 12V battery was disconnected. It thinks it has been stolen because the DVD loading mechanism is broken and it needs to verify itself by loading the DVD. Everything was working before the 12V disconnect. Now it's bricked because it cannot load the DVD to verify that it has not been not stolen. Attempts to load the DVD result in bad noises followed by ejection of the DVD and new scratches added to the surface.

Therefore I bought a Pioneer DMH-ZF7650BT and an assortment of harnesses and gizmos and installed it into the 2009 Prius, but it is still loosely dangling in the dashboard for now.

I think I got almost 'everything' working except for the reverse camera.

The list of things working again since partial install of the Pioneer DMH-ZF7650BT:

    1) Steering wheel controls on R side of steering wheel (Trip, Disp, Temp, recirculation) are working again. The radar distance control button continued to work even without the new harnesses and head unit. The other buttons needed the Aerpro CHTO2C to be connected (but not the Pioneer head unit itself) to work again.

    2) Sound works and is plenty loud enough. Equaliser and Left / Right / rear / front volume balancing works from the Pioneer settings. I can listen to FM radio and link my phone and listen to audio from the phone via Bluetooth. The screen shows the title of what I am listening to but not the video when it's from a youtube video.

    3) Left side steering wheel audio controls ( - / + volume / MODE / Up / Down arrows) do work again after selecting 'Harness' (or something like it) in the Pioneer Steering wheel button settings. Phone and voice control buttons have not been tested yet.

    4) Reverse parking assist lines appear on the screen when the car is put in reverse 'gear' and they disappear when put back in neutral or anything other than reverse. They are not the OEM (dynamic) lines, but something static and straight, generated by the Pioneer. They can be adjusted in the Pioneer settings to have different angles and lengths, but I don't think there is a way for them to react to the steering wheel position. When I turn off the 'Reverse Camera' in the Pioneer settings, then the reverse parking lines do not appear when in reverse 'gear'.

    What is not working:

The reverse camera view does not appear on the screen when it should. At the moment when I would expect it to appear, there is a slight change to the level of greyness of the screen (the reverse assist aftermarket lines are already visible at that time) but no image appears. I have assembled the 6V DC adapter ( AXBUCH-T26V included with my assorted riff raff cable salad) according to instructions, and it does indeed produce 6 V DC when the Reverse Signal arrives when I put the car in reverse 'gear'.

Any suggestion for how to proceed will be much appreciated!

I think I'm getting close...... maybe I need to switch the still functional OEM unit back from the other Prius (2010 Australian i-Tech, Navigation DVD already loaded in and therefore not in 'I have been stolen' mode; the OEM head units switched over between cars without a problem, they seem to be identical) to test if I maybe fried the OEM camera while fiddling with it all........

    List of parts I used:
    Pioneer DMH-ZF7650BT head unit
    Aerpro AXBUCH-T26V with AXCSSD-6V
    Aerpro CHTO2C harness
APP9PI08 Pioneer to ISO with patch lead
