Today, I filled up and did the math, it showed 18.5, which is in the range of the 15-23 mpg I have been getting, but the consumption index said 32.5. I am working on a new battery but would like to know if anyone else has encountered this oddity. My dashboard lights only come on sometimes. Any input, insight would help-thanks robertd

15-23 mpg is very low for this vehicle. The only way mine (working normally, AFAIK) would ever be that low would be if it was only ever driven up hill.

The MPG estimation shown by the Prius is usually a little optimistic. Up to 5-10% higher than the actual fuel consumption. Remember to reset it at each fill up or the number it shows would not be commensurable with the number calculated from (delta miles)/(gas in this fill up).

What indicators are you talking about? Your dashboard displaying the car's speed doesn't work?
