Hi - I recently purchased a used 2013 Prius Three with 170k miles. I use it for a short daily commute. But Recently I started having a problem where I cannot use the keyfob to lock the car, since the door open indicator is ON. But I know all the doors are properly closed, I suspected it was the rear hatch. So I purchase a new lock assembly (thinking the old one was shot), but it worked fine for a few days and now the problem is back. The odd thing is after some time (couple of hours) the open door indicator turn off by itself and then I can lock the car. Not sure what could be the issue here - wiring connector or sensor on the hatch?? Has anyone come across this issue and managed to resolve it without trip to a mechanic? Thanks in advance.
Those rear latches get lots of dirt and debris in them... I also replaced one once only for symptoms to quickly return, mostly because I was hauling lots of gardening materials back then. As almost always, cleaning and inspecting everything fixes most everything. Keep trying!
