Given that the trouble code was nothing to do with EGR, that EGR valve disassembly may have been an unnecessary distraction. Best case, it doesn't hurt anything, but there are also those times when by doing too many things that aren't related to the code you've got you can end up adding new problems to what you started with.

Maybe the mod should be asked to edit the thread title to not say egr...

You have to get it running first but compare the flow out of the exhaust between Prii.

If it's actually starting it may be going down on low power which should code.

Other readers may also need to be reminded that the trouble code had nothing to do with EGR.

As for how the EGR valve is built, the threads in the rotor are how it works. When the rotor spins, the pintle moves inward or outward, because of the threads.

It's never supposed to be tight. It's kind of hard to even get it tight, unless there is a rut through the ski-jump part.

If there's a rut it's done for (unless you're one of the creative souls willing to try hot-knife plastic sculpting or the like).

But again, there was no EGR-related code in this thread.

So the hill lack of power problem is gone?

Basically you had a bad air leak at idle which prevented a start.

There is a revised egr valve available from Toyota.
