I have searched the internet, and in these forums, a few thread of knocking and creaking, but nothing like what I have. This sound only happens when slowly accelerating from a dead stop, it doesnt matter if its straight acceleration or turning. It is coming from the front somewhere, possibly driver side, it goes away once your up to 5mph. I'd say its more like a creak than a knock, after listening to some sounds on the internet, it kind of resembles this. Doesnt seem to matter if its hot or cold. We live in so cal, its a 2013 prius, ive had most of the servicing done at toyota dealer. Any tips?
Does it sound engine or suspension related? Try bouncing the car with your hands up and down on both front fenders. Check out 1:55 in this video.
Did you figure out the issue? My 2013 just started doing the same thing two days ago. It has just under 124,000 miles on it and I just did new OEM (from the dealer) struts at 114,000 miles, so I wouldn't think that would be the issue.
