    Hi Everyone!

First, our profile picture is not our vehicle! We just love it!

Our faithful 2010 Prius IV (Gen 3) with the Toyota factory solar sunroof made a bad sound today. We had her towed to our mechanic, who said she needs a new engine. That's sad news for us, and we need to decide if we want to replace the engine or sell our baby to someone else to care for.

Until this bad sound today, everything worked great. Tires are like new (about 4k miles on them). Solar works great. AC is icy cold. Sunroof works perfectly. All electrical is solid. Brake rotors were recently turned. All brake pads were replaced at that time too. Oil changed in November with full synthetic Mobil 1 0W-20 Advanced Fuel Economy oil.

Besides the big engine issue, the only bad thing we can say about our Prius is that the clear coat over the paint is shot. It's peeling real bad.

We did have an oil burning issue years ago, but that resolved itself, and is now moot anyways, as our mechanic says the engine needs replacement.

Air bags have never been deployed. No major body damage (tiny dent in rear left quarter panel from a poor wayward deer). No cracks in any windows nor in the windshield. Have both key fobs.

Interior is immaculate except for a tear on the driver's seat front left corner near where the inside of your left knee will go.

Heated SofTex synthetic leather seats (factory installed).

The only third-party modification is a catalytic converter shield that is protecting the Toyota factory catalytic converter.

    Mileage is ~165K.

    Located in SoCal.

Vehicle is registered. Title is clean. No liens. No tickets. No nonsense.

    Car cover included.

We are the second owners; we bought our baby in 2014 from the original owner.

If you want, our mechanic will put in a low-mileage engine for $4178 (including labor, taxes, new spark plugs, new water pump, new thermostat, new seals, new gaskets, etc.). We have an extra vehicle that we never use (it only gets 18 MPG), and we are both disabled, so spending $4178 when we don't really have to isn't ideal.

Reasonable offers will be considered. Great offer will be accepted immediately. Low ball offers likely won't receive any response. Scams will be dealt with appropriately (scammers, don't waste your time or jeopardize your freedom).

The only trade we are likely to consider would be for a street legal dune buggy, which one of us has always dreamed about, and the other one of us is shaking her head about right now. :)
