Does this JDM 1NZ-FXE engine look like it has under 60k miles?

Just bought this second gen Prius powertrain that was purported to have under 60k miles. My initial inspection raised some doubts but I want to know what you guys think of my findings.

Personally I would say probably not looks more like about 90k possibly higher but you'll never make that stick I would say you did better than you would do in the states everything you'll find here has 300K on it or close to it or you won't be able to get the engine out of the 130,000 mile one because the whole car is still for sale for $8,000 or better so not sure how this is going to help you or not to be honest with you that actually looks more used and dirty than my $197,000 MI 13 persona when it broke and I have pictures of that whole engine tear down right here but this is an early version of this type of design engine so it looks like my early 4AGE internal and stuff like that.

The spark plugs look like the engine was burning a lot of oil. If the engine only had 60k miles, the spark plugs would look like they were almost new.

Where did you buy the engine from?

The cylinder heads being absolutely caked in carbon make me think this thing burns oil too. I got it from JDM Alliance on eBay. They have great feedback and I have contacted them to see if I can get the engine exchanged for a different one. Waiting on their response.

After dealing with a generation 3 with a JDM engine and seeing this older one NZ it looks like for my one NZ stuff here it's going to be easier for me to freshen up existing engines put a remanufactured head on it call it a day hone the bores fit standard size aftermarket rings which generally will work to 010 over or something similar and look up the mains and connecting rod bearings and put them back at stock because as it stands right now there's no damages I know when I pull any of mine apart I'm going to barely start seeing a little bit of copper on the shell. So freshening those up with new sets of standards which each journal on these things has a number so you have to order them that way. So it looks like that'll be the way to go since acquiring engines look so problematic breaking one of these down and fixing it up with the parts in houses only a few hours. I did see where ATK is advertising I thought they were long since not around and I believe I saw an ad that said they can get or have in their arsenal or remanufactured one NZ engine I need to look into that.

A little while ago I was going to order an engine from Hybrid Pit Stop but they stopped refurbishing 1NZs and now they only do 2ZRs. I was really hoping all I would have to do is an engine swap but it appears I might just have to rebuild one of these used engines. 9

I just looked up JDM Alliance on eBay. I did not see any Gen 2 engines listed for sale by them. They have Gen 3 engines listed for $1200.

I’m pretty sure they have a couple. I’ll call and make sure.

    This looks like one: https://ebay.us/m/4f62hj

I did my search on eBay using "JDM Alliance" . They are located in California.

Your link is "jdm-alliance". They are located in Texas.

Shipping would get problematic very quickly if you can't use one of their outfits on the right Coast closest to you so there's always that like I say I saw a thing I thought not too long ago where ATK was still in business I'm going to look into that I hope maybe tomorrow just to see what they have to say I bought from them lasting like 87 something like that
