Hi all, Ive been back through all the old threads but couldn't find an answer to my question (maybe noone knows still) My 2009 Gen 3 Prius is getting the hissing noise around the brake pedal, and the pump is running every 10 seconds. I understand the issue is likely in the booster assembly so I'm going to replace just that first. The issue is I'm in Australia and wrecker parts are rare enough as it is, without having to find one that's the exact year. I've managed to dig up the below info here which indicates I need, Part number 47050-47130 (substitute) Mark number 47210-47200 The closest part I can find (which is still nearly $1,000 used btw) is, Part number 47050-47130 Mark number 47210-47300 Would it seem safe to assume the original part number (47050-47050) has been substituted with a new one that appears to be the same as the 07.2010 - 12.2011 model? The mark numbers are slightly different but it may just be the same part? Even when adding both the above highlighted items to cart, they appear in the cart as 2 of the same product. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, I've spent way too much time on this already
The catalogs indicate the year of manufacture of the part and the period of time when the part was installed. When the part is improved, the number changes. It is possible to replace parts.
Hey Brendon, sorry to hear about your luck mate. I've replaced mine in the past 4 months and unfortunately have to replace it again. Evidently I installed a bad one or something. It takes on air within 2 to 4 weeks after bleeding. Anyway, I'm curious as to why you can't seem to find one used cheaper than that. I have one in route, used, that I paid approx $340 for, on Ebay.
Update for anyone that finds this thread in the future (my diagnostic code was C1391 - Abnormal leak in Accumulator) I took the plunge and purchased a 2nd hand Booster assembly/master cylinder from a wrecker for $800 AUD and replaced it myself. I believe it came from a 2012, apparently the boosters are interchangeable between the first 4 years of the Gen 3 at least. The numbers on the unit I purchased are below, and when we pulled the old unit out of my 2009 they matched exactly. Part - 47270-47030 Mark - 47200-47030 The process wasn't too hard, the Techstream software did keep disconnecting during the bleed process but after clearing the codes from the ABS ECU and resetting the car we managed to get it through. There's extensive info on this process here. 2 weeks on the road now and it's going great, the pump barely ever runs unless I'm actually using the brakes. So nice to have regen and boost back after months of not having it If anyone in the future has questions please feel free to reply or PM and ill do my best to help.
