Hello, everyone, I just bought a prius to give it to my brother, the car was cheap because it needed to get fix, it has 1 one main problem, the brakes dont work properly, I have to push the pedal to the floor in orden to try stoping the car and it stops but it does slowly so i have to do it with much space before the stop sign, the pedal is kinda soft.
My best guest it has to do with the ABS actuator.
and the second main problem is that the hybrid battery is bad, cause the car wont stop running al the time, and I have lots of codes on the dash board, will add a pic of it down below, also, when I start the car the acceleration response is good but after a while it drops down so much it takes for ever to move and get speed.

How can I troble shut the brakes, that my question, to acctualy know that the ABS actuator box has to be replace, what codes do I have to look for.
Thanks for any help you can give me, salutes.

Or Autel AP200. There is a complicated brake bleeding procedure which Techstream will only get through with certain OBD2 adapters, and the miniVCI most people buy is not reliable for this procedure. The AP200 will work for this.

If both the ABS and the big battery need to be replaced the OP is looking at something like $4000 for (new) parts alone. Some people do this work themselves, otherwise, add in labor too. I have no idea what a shop in Mexico would charge for this.

Replacing the battery pack isn't too difficult, it just takes common mechanic's tools, some time, and it helps to have a 2nd person when lugging the pack out of and back into the car. The only likely complication is that the little computer inside the pack might have corroded connector pins, which is fairly common in humid environments and not very common in dry ones. Techstream or the Autel reader are not needed (but wouldn't hurt to have on hand in case there are codes afterwards). A torque wrench that reads in in-lbs is needed to attach the wiring harness from the computer to some of the modules. Those are held on by very small nuts and are screwed on with a pretty low amount of torque.

Some people have done the ABS replacement themselves. I have not done this, but my impression is that it is more challenging, and that techstream or AP200 are required to complete the work.
