After 3 years of owning my Gen 2, I finally got frustrated enough - on a whim - to remove the felt covering that adorns the center console. It is CONSTANTLY filthy with stains, etc., and my OCD couldn't handle it any longer.

When I removed it there was a bunch of dust particles from the foam underneath, which I'm hoping weren't hazardous to breathe as they were flying all over the place. Anywho...

I do like the look of the plastic black, but it's all covered with the dry glue residue that they used to adhere the fabric cover. Has anyone tried removing that gunk, and if so, what product did you use?

I thought Gunk Out (or something similar) might work, however, I'm asking for opinions as I'm surely not the only one out there who has ever removed the liner and came across this issue.

    Thanks.

WD-40 works well and then you can use some 400 or 600 grit sandpaper and just go over the whole thing and it'll give it a pretty nice finish you could paint it but I have no good luck with painting plastic interior parts the paint always comes off it gets on something and I've tried krylon and stuff made for plastic and all that I've had my body shop paint it for me did a little better but still it's not staying on there prep work primer all of it oh well I just have bad luck. All of my center console lids are done this way I don't have material on any of them that are on the cars I have two or three leather ones that are sitting in here that should be on the cars I just haven't put them on
