    Good morning, Prius Chat members.

I have a Prius 2013 I have been hearing a "squeegy" noise when at a very low speed. They don't seem to be the brake pads... I know the screeching sound they make. Besides, I recently replaced the read pads, And I'll be exchanging the front ones. But I am puzzled by the sound. I hope I can get this short video to show in this post.

Thanks for any guidance of what you think it might be that I need to fix. Really appreciated,
    Dcn. Ramirez

It's a gen 3? (Just wondering, since your avatar says 2007 model year)

Did the sound start after replacement of the rear pads? DIY or?

Looks like you need to change permissions on the Google Drive link.

Your video has privacy controls on it and is not visible. Because the noise happens at slow speed I'd get a friend behind the wheel and take your car for a walk to see if you can locate the source of the sound.

Did you maybe bend the dust shield and it's scraping?

    Thanks, Mendel.

I have changed the permissions for the Google drive link. It's a 2013 - I did not update my profile, but I will. The sound started, a little after the pads were changed... and yes, it was DIY. I hope you can see it.

Thanks, ASRDogman. I will check, but I don't think so. Besides the sound does not seem to be metal against metal. I've updated the permissions in Google Drive. Hopefully it's visible now.

Sound like what @ASRDogman is saying... Or if your brakes are on when this movement happens, it could just be putting more lube on the caliper pins?

Alternatively it could be the heat shielding around the exhaust system. One time I had that noise and my friend fixed it by shaking my exhaust pipe aggressively.

Were you aware of the need to have the rear caliper piston rotated so that the cross pattern on it's face is oriented like an "X"?

There are stubby pins on the backer plates of the rear pads, that are supposed to be between the raised spokes of that pattern on the piston. If the piston face is mispositioned so that the pin in contact with the raised spoke, it creates havoc, skewed contact and so on.

More info in the rear brake drag link in my signature (on a phone turn it landscape to see signatures).

Thank you All... This community is awesome! Specially, Thanking Mendel. I was not aware of that alignment, and I am pretty sure I didn't even checked. I just used the tool to retract the piston to reassemble. I am not a mechanic by any means.

I hope is just the caliper piston alignment. I will then need to check it then. I also will make sure the sliding pins are well greased.

    Thanks Again!
