Hello all! Was wondering if anyone had recommendations for battery replacements on a 2005 prius in the chicagoland area!
Your post ended up in the Gen. 1 forum, but nevertheless I can recommend greentec (Greentec Auto | EV and Hybrid Battery Replacement & Repair) out of Kansas City, with service facilities all over. They do mobile installs in your driveway, very convenient. I had my '02 done by them last August. Check the website for a location near you (I see they have a Chicago location), and give them a call at the number on the site.
Greetings... The brand new OEM packs have become thousands of dollars more expensive due to tariiffs and Toyota punishing people for being so loyal to keeping their ancient Gen2 on the road because it was the best car ever built. This guy in Bend, Oregon will ship you a high quality rebuilt pack that are good for a few years. For slightly more ($1800) he'll sell you a set of Gen 4 modules (2016-2022) from a wrecked Prius that may last as long as another decade: Eco-Friendly Refurbished Hybrid Car Batteries for Sale Or my favorite option for a hundred dollars more than that is a brand new Sodium-Ion battery which holds more charge during mountain climbing and all ev mode, as well as charges back up to full faster than OEM. greentec and greenbean are some of the options and they'll come at your door to replace it. I have both greenbean and greentec batteries on my Prius and Camry and they've been in many years (greenbean on my Camry is already 6+ years) if you're a DIY, you can order modules from 2nd life for $1000 but it's a lot of work.
The guy in Madison is Eric Powers, DBA evpowers.com . Eric replaced the traction battery in our 2007 for a reasonable price. He also replaced the capacitors in the instrument cluster. Two thumbs up!
