Had engine and inverter coolant replaced at dealer service yesterday, also new spark plugs (owner supplied, since I had the correct Denso plugs on hand). I used dealer for the coolant because I specifically wanted Toyota Super Long-Life, plus bleeding the inverter, otherwise I would have used my regular mechanic (who’s not a hybrid specialist). Drove car home from dealer, no problems, seemed smoother and peppier than before but maybe my imagination. The old plugs looked pretty clean with c. 75-80K on them. That was yesterday. Went grocery shopping this a.m. and started car to go home, when——surprise, surprise—-dash lights up with triangle of death, and trouble screen shows car symbol lit up red. What the [bleep]?? Car started but ICE shut off after 5-10 seconds; several attempts, same result. HV battery showed 1/4 SOC. Managed to get out of P gear into D and limped home, about 2.5 miles, mostly on electric only, although I did stop once for 5 minutes, and the ICE came back on restart. Whew! Still not running right, but got home and pulled P3191. I’ve been to this dance once before. Remedy is to remove and clean MAF sensor with CRC MAF cleaner, although of course there are other causes for a P3191. Cleaned the MAF sensor, and spritzed cleaner down into the throttle body, which looked pretty clean. This was my lucky day: the car started, no warning lights on dash. Cleared the code and drove around the neighborhood to recharge the HV to its customary 3/4 level on the battery symbol image. Fingers crossed that the problem is solved. Excitement like this I do not need.
