    Hi folks...

I just about ordered one of these - to use to disconnect the 12v battery when the Prius won't be started for several weeks. Of course I can loosen the cable and take it off, but I'd like an easier/quicker way. Almost ordered this one and then saw that it's too large for the 2015 Prius (plug-in) 12v battery post:

The Prius post looks to be 13mm? Or just over a 1/2-inch? I've looked at Amazon and can't find one that fits - anyone have any luck finding one? Thanks...

No embedded image but assume this is a quick disconnect or Anderson-type power connector? Why not? Well, you will lose many dashboard settings that rely on trickle feed from the 12V auxiliary battery. Instead, we use a battery maintainer on the 'fleet.'

OK - get it now, no links allowed? (And also, looks like I can't PASTE an image??) 0

And THEN I had a "problem uploading file" - no PNG's allowed?

    OK - nope - couldn't upload a JPG either.

    Good grief.

Whatever the 12V auxiliary battery cut-off technique in use, unless you separately supply the dash with 12v, you will lose many dashboard settings that rely on power-off trickle feed from the 12V auxiliary battery.

Rather than that answer (which will make it difficult to access with the hatch dead), I might disconnect the white cable in the engine fuse box. Easier to access later.

Personally, I just carry a Lithium jump pack under the driver’s seat.

Finally everyone has trouble posting pics direct unless you use an online file server like Google drive or have the secret multistep process which requires JavaScript to be on then off then on with a desktop mode enabled on your iPhone.

Thanks very much - the white wire sounds like a winner for my use case.

Thanks yeah - I guess I'll sacrifice those things for not having a dead battery upon my return to the car - but yes, definitely a downside. At the moment I just want a quick-and-dirty method to use in case of having to leave the car unexpectedly for a "long" time (couple weeks or more?).

We’ve parked the car for a month and not had issues. Depends on beginning state of battery and amount of parasitic drain.

OK - yeah, in this last episode we were gone 3 months. And, I believe the 12v battery is the original from 2015, so it's time for a new one anyway I suppose. $177 at Costco.

What you seem to be saying is that this ONE WIRE is the only connection between the 12v battery and the rest of the car and disconnecting it is the same as taking the wires off the battery terminal. Is this so?

I'm interested in this too. Maybe (at least for some, without the ability to hook up a charger, say parked at airport or whatever), might be a good place to put in a disconnect switch, easier access.

There's 12 volts constant under this cap as well:

but maybe it's only route forward is to that white cable.

That lug is point 1F on the diagram which connects to the inverter/converter. It goes dead when you unplug the white cable. Assuming you unplug with the vehicle shutdown.
