... finally, EV people tearing our roads asunder compelled to start paying their fair share, looks to be an additional US$250 per annum they'll be hit, renewing their tags:

Here's what's in Trump's 'Big, Beautiful Bill' | Just The News

Mention made, federal assessment on all hybrid vehicles, to replenish the highway fund, anybody have any idea what they'll have in store, for the likes of us?

Looks to be a no-win, for the likes of me. Senior citizen on a limited income, DMV people hit me with an abusive renewal fee, I'd have to sell off my trusty, efficient Gen II, go back to driving my gas guzzling Subaru -

looks like you're going to get zinged to. thank you repubs. all vehicles should pay by weight and miles driven, but that would be too sensible for politics, and this is all about sticking it to your dems.

Give up and move to the UK.
Road tax on my Gen 2 is £10 ($13) per annum and you can pay it in installments if you want.
They don't check exhaust fumes in the MOT for hybrids so no OEM cats necessary either.
Downside is the price of gas.

yes, it's in the big, beautiful bill. on top of what some states are adding, just like state and federal gas taxes.

It will be $100 for your plain, no plug hybrid. Couple of threads about these fees already.

I don't think in North Carolina anything is going to seriously change not enough to get me out of my $700 to $1,000 Prius anything else I buy would be just as costly if not way more costly so.

I looked at a bunch of those and was going to buy one of the ones that had the fire capability and all that but had a new battery put in it to 2037 and all this kind of stuff I could have bought a couple of them for $8,000 but I wound up instead buying some volts and we really like those next will be bolts probably unless gear Hyundai sneak something in really cool from China I'm trying to hold out and wait for solid state batteries or any of the nonsense that's coming so that right after I buy something stupid doesn't drop like immediately. But the volt does us right for almost same money as Prius

The future? It wasn’t an investment
