Hello, So i have a Toyota Yaris Hybrid (Prius C) with the 1NZ-FXE engine with 161.000miles on it. The engine develops a ticking sound only under curtain circumstances. I think its from the VVTi camgear. I did an active test with techstream and i can influence the sound. It also is throwing codes if i put the car in checkmode with techstream. This way the ecu will use tighter parameters for faultcodes and if something is on the way out you will likely set a DCT quicker than normal. And so it did. Got P0016 and P0010. Both have something to do with the timing. P0016 is likely a stretched chain and P0010 is likely a worn VVTi camgear. But i heard that many have this issue. At least they have the exact same ticking sound. The ticking is not always there. I flushed the engine twice. If it where valves it would not do it under certain circumstances but always. This engine has not hydrolifters. Maybe you guys can help me some, or maybe other people have the same sound on there Prius C? Thanks in advance This is the exact sound. It comes on and stops. And its under load and ticks along with the engine RPM. https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicAdvice/comments/ew9bnb/update_video_2013_toyota_prius_c_tickingknocking/
