    Hey everyone,
I have a 2008 Prius and I am looking for a truly knowledgeable local mechanic in Syracuse, NY, who understands these cars beyond just basic hybrid awareness, has good experience to offer sensible, cost-effective solutions for Gen 2 quirks. If you are one (or know one), please let me know.

Well given we're about 20 years in . Shouldn't really be too difficult . Remember it's part of the Corolla family. All of it more or less.

Ted And Walt both get Rave reviews in you're area . As does a tire place that apparently a few Prius owners have had good luck with.

They both run shops in your area whether they're mobile shops or brick and mortar stores I don't really I care about reviews and appearance. And other lil clues.

it was an obscure hint ..but thanks for internet search .. it led me somewhere.. at least shops with the same names. i will just call them tomorrow and see what comes out of it. meanwhile, if you could recommend a shop in this area (or know someone who could), i would appreciate it.

Both Ted and Walt the folks that answered at respective numbers were well versed in Prius ownership and it's particulars. I have no reason to believe they just fell off the turnip truck or such.

the car now turns itself on even with the 12v battery disconnected, and then wont shut down unless you try a couple of times. it is definitely not a mechanical issue but an electrical one —probably the car computer itself. i winded up taking it to the dealership today.. 6 hours later they are still trying to figure it out.

The car will have these problems when the combination meter is not working. There is one to three capacitors on the combination meter board that need to be replaced.

Does your dashboard (combination meter) wotk?
