My wife and I always wear seat belts. So today on leaving a store when we had driven for maybe 10 seconds in the parking lot and the alarm starts. We did not immediately recognize that beep. There were no warnings on the dash in front of the driver or on the center display. After stopping to figure out what was going on it took half a minute or so before I spotted the red warning all the way over on the right side of the dash in front of her. (I wear sunglasses when I drive, that red symbol is pretty dim when viewed from the driver's seat through those lenses.)

Anyway, never having seen this before, is there supposed to be a delay before that warning starts after the car has been placed in gear and is moving?

The seat belt beep does not come on until you hit 12 miles an hour.

12 mph would be about right. Thanks.

I forgot to mention that she really had not put on her seat belt this time. She was wearing a fanny pack that she doesn't normally wear and claims it felt just like the seatbelt. (Except for the lack of the shoulder part of the belt, It didn't seem prudent to point that out.)
