I keep getting this warning on startup. I'm pretty sure it's just for oil, but I still have 2k miles left before I hit the 5k mark until I need an oil change. I've tried searching and all I can find is change to trip A, power off, then hold the mph/kmh button and turn car on, but it doesn't work. What's the method to do it on the v?

    Then power back ON.
push the trip button twice and hold down on the third as the Prius intro. screen is popping up.
When the intro screen finishes; you should see a count-down - keep holding the trip button down. At the end of the count down, the maintenance minder should reset.

My 2012 Prius C required me to be on the main odometer screen; NOT trip A - so you may want to give that a shot if the procedure in trip-A doesn't work.

    Good Luck.....

Don't forget to perform this procedure, after your oil change - to realign your maintenance minder.

I think it comes on 4,500 miles after the last reset

The mileage counter (at least on US spec Prius, no such encumberment with CDN) is just a simple miles counter, and somewhat at odds with the maintenance schedule, which specs miles or months, whichever comes first. Maybe Toyota should just delete that "feature", more hindrance than help.

Rather than being "pretty sure" of what maintenance is required and when, have a look in the Toyota USA Warranty and Maintenance Booklet, where the schedule is spelled out, albeit in a mind-numbing, event-by-event format. I've made a spreadsheet summary of the US 3rd gen Prius schedule, which I believe is identical for the v. Much easier read:

If this procedure works on the refreshed 2015 v you have to be in trip A before powering up in Ignition mode (two presses of power button without brake) while holding the km button for a few seconds.

Video of reset method on v without km button

If your refreshed Prius v has a MID screen in the main top display, then it's done there. This is the case on later model Toyotas.

My gen4 is a simple and straight forward procedure under the gear icon of the mfd. No chicken dance or manual reading required.:po_O

I tried several times with those different methods, but none of them worked. I started looking through the heads up display menus and found the gear icon, then a maintenance menu, and there was an "initialize" option. I did that, and it went away.

Don't forget to do that after you change your oil to reinitialize/resync the oil change counter.(n)o_O

Good deal. The multi information display reset option is only mentioned in the 2017 v manual which adds confusion for the 15-16 v owners.
