Last night my A/C in my 2017 3 started blowing hot air. It’s coolish when the car is just running off the battery but hot when the engine kicks in. The battery is now fully unplugged to reset the system. Any other ideas on easy fixes for this. Also, when I disconnected the negative cable on the 12v battery the door lights and dash lights still come on so I disconnected both the positive and negative. Any clue why things stay on with the negative cable plugged in?
Have you got any trouble codes from the HVAC system? Generations after gen 1 give you HVAC codes via a scan tool. Up to gen 3 at least, there is also a way to get codes without a scan tool (scroll to the bottom of Blink (a/k/a Flash) Codes – How to. | PriusChat), but I don't specifically know how you do that in gen 4, if it's still supported. It's usually not too hard to answer an "is the blend door working" question by sticking your head down there and watching, while moving the temperature setting from below to above the cabin temp. It might help to find a diagram of the gen 4 HVAC box so you know where to look.
Just looked under the glove compartment and found the actuator. Doesn’t turn anything when the A/c kicks in. So I’m guessing that’s it. Anyone know the cost of a dealer replacing this?
B1441 is indeed an air mix (blend) servo code for the passenger side. B1448 seems to pertain to a face-outlet servo on the same side. The two might be combined in an assembly. Here is a post to look at.
Thanks. Sounds like it’s the air mix servo (aka blend door actuator). I’ll point the mechanic tomorrow in that direction. Considering replacing the actuator myself. There’s a good vid on YouTube:. Will decide after I find out how much it costs. Any other downsides to replacing myself?
You've got the codes for two distinct actuators, the passenger air mix and the passenger face select. But it's possible those two come in a single assembly, if I'm reading the RM excerpt right. Also, the troubleshooting steps for both codes tell you to check first whether some wiring got in the way. That sounds like it could be a cheaper fix than replacing the assembly.
So the dealership quoted me $4,400 to fix this problem. The gold service agreement does not cover replacement of damper servos, which I didn’t know. I appealed to Toyota General Assistance. Anyone ever have any luck filing claims with them?
