Can anyone identify this material coming out of the driver's side window well on a 2008 Prius? It doesn't appear to be part of the window sweep component. It's my daughter's car and she lives in another city so I can't just take off the panel and investigate as I normally would so I'm hoping someone has seen this before. She said the window still functions as normal but this material pops out when she raises the window. Thanks!
That's the channel liner goes into the channel that the window goes up and down in on the sides the. Down in the door more behind the door panel you should be table to pull the door panel and the plastic and see where it goes . May rattle w out it
Easiest fix is to go to a wrecking yard like pick n' pull and practice removing this part from the car and buying what's going to be the easiest combination of window parts to quickly swap out next time you visit her. Perhaps on father's day? I always think it's funny when daughter's find a way to put their dad to work on Father's day. They seem to succeed at it more than a father's son does.

Good Lord that's disgraceful under the tree type parking take in for good cleaning someday . Then it'll be safe to remove door panel . Then you'll be able to see one day what your car really look like. Andput felt back
Is it just me or do those two cars look like exactly the same failure - as in same amount of felt peeled off and same amount dangling out from the same exit point on the door? Is that because all of the felt peeled out of its channel starting from the distal end, or did it stop peeling at the same spot? Naively I would have thought that if all the felt detached from its channel it would have eventually worked its way completely out from the window going up and down and the ratchet like effect of the angle of the piece of rubber on the outside, which points slightly upward.
I haven't had time to fix ours yet but we tucked the liner back down out of sight for now and the window sweep/trim seems to be doing it's job as it still sits tight against the window.
