Ideally I'd like to not have to drive to work with my car in that state. Hoping to physically install the passenger side mirror and run the new wires this Saturday so at least it's working with the base features.

I'm trying to see what wires I can do inside the car separately from the mirror installation so I can break the work into small steps I can do after work on weekdays. I've prepared the ground for the folding controls in the driver's side door and plan to wire the folding controls from the ECU to OK2 before I do the mirror installations.

I will likely skip the junction boxes and run the wires from passenger to driver side along the same path my door light ran to simplify my setup. If I had more time and a better place to do the work, I'd probably do it like you did.

If pulling the lower dash panels only will give me more room, I'll try that first and go from there.

When you remove the dash pad can you access grommets to run wires from the engine compartment to the cabin? Considering attempting adding panoramic view monitor or a camera up front.

Am I reading these notes wrong? I feel there's discrepancy on the pin locations:

    Door Side New
1 MV Red | 9 MH Lt Blue
    2 | 10 M+ Black
    3 MR Violet | 11 MF Green
    4 +B Black | 12 GND Green
    5 | 13
    6 BTL Red | 14 GTL White
    7 + White | 15 E W/B
    8 BSL+ Pink | 16 B Black

Comparing this against the old door side layout, pins 3, 11, and 16 are the new ones. Is pin 16 the turn signal?
    3 - Mirror Reverse
    11 - Mirror Forward
    16 - Turn Signal (?)

K21 - 10 - Mirror Forward - lavender/pink - supposed to go to a junction connector then off to each door
    - Drivers Door - pink <|> OK2 connector in driver footwell/pin 2 <|> green <|> O9 connector near mirror/pin 10
    - Pass Door - gray <|> NK1 connector in pass footwell/pin 2 <|> red <|> N9 connector near mirror/pin 10
K21 - 24 - Mirror Reverse - lavender/violet- supposed to go to a junction connector then off to each door
    - Drivers Door - sky blue <|> OK2 connector in driver footwell/pin 13 <|> violet <|> O9 connector near mirror/pin 4
    - Pass Door - black <|> NK1 connector in pass footwell/pin 13 <|> violet <|> N9 connector near mirror/pin 4
    K21 - 25 - Ground - white/black - connect to a ground(can either splice to previous ground or to K21 - pin 13)
    K21 - 38 - LH Turn - violet - splice into wire - yellow <|> OK2 connector in driver footwell/pin17 <|> black <|> O9 connector near mirror/pin 5
    K21 - 39 - RH Turn - pink - splice into wire - sky blue <|> NK1 connector in pass footwell/pin17 <|> black <|> N9 connector near mirror/pin 5

According to these notes, I should be using pins 4, 5, and 10.
    4 - Mirror Reverse
    10 - Mirror Forward
    5 - Turn Signal (?)

Shoot, the problem is with the second set of pinouts.

TLDR: Use everything in the second set of pinouts except the O9/N9 stuff at the end. Use the first set of pinouts for those connectors.

    Full story:
I'm guessing I got the second set from the US wiring diagram. My annual subscription ended yesterday, so I can't double-check. Sorry, but it's been about a year since I did everything and I made notes back then for the moment, not for posterity. I think O9/N9 are the names for the 11-pin connectors that need to be replaced if you have the Panoramic View Monitor option.

Long story longer, Toyota uses the 11-pin when the market has PVM or folding mirrors w/ turn signal, but not both. USA/Canada has PVM but not folding/turn, and Mexico has folding/turn but not PVM. Japan and Europe have both, so they get the 16-pin connector(O11/N12).

So the US wiring diagrams(which include all North American cars) have both the US and Mexico ways to wire the 11-pin. I must have used that for some stupid reason when I made up the second list.

When I put together the more recent list for you(the one you put first), I used my notes from 1.5 years ago when I still had access to the Europe wiring diagram with the 16-pin connector(which is the same as the Japan).

This should be the corrected version:

K21 - 10 - Mirror Forward - lavender/pink - supposed to go to a junction connector then off to each door
    - Drivers Door - pink <|> OK2 connector in driver footwell/pin 2 <|> green <|> O11 connector near mirror/pin 11
    - Pass Door - gray <|> NK1 connector in pass footwell/pin 2 <|> red <|> N12 connector near mirror/pin 11
K21 - 24 - Mirror Reverse - lavender/violet- supposed to go to a junction connector then off to each door
    - Drivers Door - sky blue <|> OK2 connector in driver footwell/pin 13 <|> violet <|> O11 connector near mirror/pin 3
    - Pass Door - black <|> NK1 connector in pass footwell/pin 13 <|> violet <|> N12 connector near mirror/pin 3
    K21 - 25 - Ground - white/black - connect to a ground(can either splice to previous ground or to K21 - pin 13)
    K21 - 38 - LH Turn - violet - splice into wire - yellow <|> OK2 connector in driver footwell/pin17 <|> black <|> O11 connector near mirror/pin 16
    K21 - 39 - RH Turn - pink - splice into wire - sky blue <|> NK1 connector in pass footwell/pin17 <|> black <|> N12 connector near mirror/pin 16

    Sorry about that.

I appreciate how much information you've been given me. I'm just mapping everything out and preparing pins to make it easier, so I'm coming across inconsistencies now.

I see for the Multiplex Master Switch, pin 9 is used twice:

    K16 - 26 - Mirror Reverse - brown <|> OK2 connector in driver's footwell/pin 3 <|> sky blue - to Multiplex Master Switch in driver's door/pin 10
    K16 - 28 - Mirror Forward - violet <|> OK2 connector in driver's footwell/pin 14 <|> sky blue - to Multiplex Master Switch in driver's door/pin 9
    Multiplex Master Switch:
Splice a wire off of pin 7(white/black - ground) and run to pin 9

I hope pin 9 is actually the ground, because I already plugged that and spliced it in yesterday.
K16 - 28 doesn't exist, as it is a 27 pin connector, based on the image I found from the PDFs uploaded in this thread previously. Do you know where Mirror Forward's correct pin on the ECU side is?

K16-28 should be K16-27. Just a typo on that one.

    K16-26: MR(brown)
    K16-27: MF(violet)

And, sorry, but it's pins 7 and 8 that are grounds, not 7 and 9.
Here's the pinout for the switch:
    O13 (switch)
    Code:
    1 ILL- Black
    2 VL Red
    3 HR Blue
    4 HL Lt Blue
    5 VR Black
    6 B Red
    7 E White/Black
    8 E White/Black (new)
    9 MF Lt Blue (new)
    10 MR Lt Blue (new)
    11 M+ Black
    12 ILL+ Red

I have the right mirror assembly installed. Unfortunately I didn't realize the outer part of the mirror is wide angle so I gotta swap mirrors now.

The colors for a lot of the wires in the door side harness were different from the notes but the functions were the same so all of the base functions still work.

Taking a break, but will tap the left turn signals tonight or tomorrow then leave the power folding for another day.

Huh. I must have used my original mirror glass when I did my swap because I never noticed a difference. I still have all the duplicate parts, so I'm going to have to see if there's a difference with the spares I've got.

When you say the colors were different, did you mean they were different from the one I labeled 'Door Side Old' or the one I labeled 'Door Side New'?

Just to be clear, you are doing this to a US spec Prius HEV Limited with the Advanced Tech package, correct?

Yes, I'm on a FWD HEV Limited trim, with all of the tech add ons except for a dash cam.

The pinout was correct on the old door , but a handful of the colors were different.
I think 3 wires were different colors.
    BTL+ - grey (not pink)
    MV - black (not red)
    I forgot the 3rd one.

Similarly, i isolated 2 sky/light blue wires running past my front seat and 1 is constant power and the other doesn't seem to be running any power. Not sure which to tap into, so calling it a night for now.

Regarding the mirror, it may be an option in Japan. The far side is segregated by a black line and that area is distorted. I was able to replace it with my original mirror, so good to go.

I have to reassess how I get to the PDBA, because it's pretty back there. Is it possible to drop the entire ECU mount to get better access?

I wired the power folding mirror control wires from the ECU to OK2. Since I had OK2 removed already, I wired the LH turn and power folding wires as well. They're just dangling for now until I get to the PDBA. Going to buy a wire poker just so I can hopefully get the RH turn signal running to make it feel like I got something done this weekend.

I guess my ECU wasn't happy with one of its connectors being pulled, because it's throwing an SRS collision sensor and secondary brake malfunction error now. Can these be cleared by disconnecting the battery?

The errors should go away after you plug back in whatever you unplugged. Maybe a power cycle or two and a short drive will be needed. I don't think I needed to actually clear codes even after driving around for a month with no dash.

It's always good practice to disconnect your battery before doing any work. Prevents codes from being thrown at all. (A practice I occasionally forget to do. <sheepish face>)

I'm going to suggest a $95 month-long subscription to TechInfo(if you don't already have one) so you can access the wiring diagrams yourself. I really don't mind helping, but the official wiring diagrams are so much easier to understand if you're a paid user of the site. You can see each entire subsystem at once, move around it, and zoom in wherever needed. You can then select a connector or module and pull up its pinout with just a click. And then another click or two to find its location in the car. Once you learn how Toyota does things, it makes a job like this so, so much easier.

The lights haven't gone off yet and I've put 40 miles on since disconnecting the battery so I'll try to reseat the k16 connector today/ tomorrow. I have 2 days of this week so may take the time to install the driver some mirror and at least get both turn signals working and the multiplex controllers power folding buttons wired up.

I think that's a great idea getting TechInfo since so many of my wire colors seem to be different.

For general reference, here are the colors of my N12 in the passenger door.

Tips for using TIS for something like this:

(I'm assuming Windows/Chrome. I can't guarantee everything will work exactly the same on a Mac/Safari regarding new browser windows opening and stuff like that.)

After you select Prius and 2024 in the pulldown boxes, you press Search. Then select the tab EWD (electronic wiring diagrams).
After the EWD page opens, click anything on the list - it doesn't matter which. That should pop open a new browser window with the EWD.
For the folding mirror function, go to Exterior - Remote Controlled Mirror
For the turn signals, go to Exterior - Turn Signal Indicators (or something like that - I'm doing this from memory)

For the folding mirrors, the parts involved are Main Body ECU, Power Distribution Box Assembly, Mulitplex Master Control Switch, and the left and right mirrors. You can either use the breakout list on the left side of the screen to find them, or just pan across the diagram.

For the turn signals, the parts are the Main Body ECU and/or the PDBA, and the turn signal lights in the mirrors.

If you click on a component or a connector, it will start flashing. If you then go to the bottom right corner of the screen you'll see a pinkish-orange button. Click that and you'll get detailed info on whatever was flashing. You can do more than one part at once, but I like to just do one at a time so I don't mix things up.

On that screen, you'll get info on the pinouts. You can select one pin at a time to see the wire color(s). You'll also see a list of every system that has wires running through the connector. If you select a pin and then click the 'Select Terminals' checkmark and click the button next to it (I forget what it's labeled - maybe search?), then you will see the system(s) involved with that particular pin.

There is also a link called 'Location of Part' or something like that. If you click that, you will get a schematic of the vehicle showing exactly where that part or connector is on the car.

Finally, you'll probably want to spend about $5.50 on an hour's access to Toyota-Tech.eu after you've become familiar with the US TechInfo and the wiring diagram system. The European site can help you with the O11/N12 connector pinouts. After you've paid the 5 euros, you go to Repair, then Electric Wiring Diagrams. Then you select Prius Plug-In, the gen5, then search. Once you open the EWD, it functions exactly like the US TechInfo one. Same menu system, same interface. Just focus in on O11/N12 since that's about all that you won't be able to get on the US site.
