When I open the tailgate of my 2010 hatchback, water pours into the trunk. It is coming from the gap between the spoiler and the top glass. I think that the water should be draining from this place instead of collecting there. The water does not come in until I open the tailgate. Do I need to remove the spoiler to see why?

what if you filled the gap with a bead of silicone?

I think that the water should be draining out of the gap so that when I open the hatchback, there is no water to pour into the car. Maybe old leaves are clogging the gap.

I get some water, if I open the hatch wet. Doesn’t “pour”, but enough to be frustrating. I don’t think the spoiler on ours has much debris, a few evergreen needles maybe. Seems inherent shortcoming in the design: water in grooves starts heading the other way when hatch is raised above horizontal.
