Ok condenser. In post 6 you wrote Compressor.

I assume there is physical damage to the condenser. Usually they are good unless a rock punctures them.

Carefully inspect an aftermarket condenser for the number of rows compared to the original. Reduced rows means reduced performance. Some have the wrong size quick connects or orings as well.

Copy all. Yes Condenser....confirmed.. They told my wife condenser...she heard and relayed compressor. (glad she was wrong).I had a run in with a boulder while turning around in a drive way at night. crushed it pretty good.:(
bent the lower support frame and had to ratchet strap it back out. Been limping it along. I'll take it all the way off and really look at the mess I caused.

Just because the condenser may be bent does not mean it leaks especially when you have the smoking gun, eg the hose rubout.

I would keep an oem condenser if functional just as I would keep a tight radiator. The lower cost copies do not compare.

Concerning refrigerant oil, you carefully drain the condenser of any oil and only replace that quantity. Too much oil can be bad.

OK. Finished the repair. I installed a new lower suction hose. The fan had rubbed a hole in it.
new condenser. The old one the backside had UV DYE all over it...it was sticky and was bent like a pringle. It was laughable that it even worked for 4 months after I hit a boulder. Added new Hybrid specific oil to the condenser and new o rings lubed in that oil. Installed new o ring in the compressor as well and tightened everything to spec. I added HFC 134A in the amount by weight indicated after checking for leaks. (none) So now I have ice cold air again. I did keep the radiator intact and did not install a new one. It was very slightly warped but the mounts held fine and were able to do some gentle minor cleaning. All Good. Growing my Auto HEVAC knowledge base was fun. Discovered that the HFC 134A in the wifes Mercedes was very low and added the correct amount back to her car as well. Ice cold air again for all. I also found out that at about 40K miles the AC compressor in her SUV is supposed to just die some day. The repair bill from the Dealership is crazyyyy high. So I'll be tackling that one myself in about 5K miles. Thanks to all in here for your advice and recommendations. I did find it harder to locate the HFC 134A WITHOUT sealant...but it wasn't too crazy. FYI if you buy a new condenser from ROCk Auto it comes with a new dryer and desiccant bag and filter since they are one unit in the Gen 2.
