I'm shopping for a used Prius to replace our 2010 which was in a collision recently. I looked at a used 2010 with 220k miles yesterday, and used the Car Scanner iOS app and a Panlong OBD2 bluetooth scanner module to read diagnostics. This gave P0A80 and P3000 hybrid battery codes, so I then ran Dr Prius battery testing which gave a 48% capacity reading (needs replacing soon).

The owner messaged me today to say he now has a Check Engine light and the Check Hybrid System fault system. Did my reading codes (or exercising the battery) trigger this, or is it just timing coincidence?

Using your scanner did not create the warning light or message. Your "exercising the battery" may have lend to the messages being displayed. The hybrid battery in that car has issues. Stay very far away from that car.
