I did not know what to entitle this post because I can't think of a good name for the part in question. Hence the attached PDF. I suppose it could be called a bellows.
Are there any special concerns, methods or tricks for disconnecting one side of the bellows. I need to disconnect the vehicle side so that I can snake a wire into the lift gate.
It seems simple enough, but if it simply pops out it doesn't do so easily.
To anyone in the community that has approached this problem before I would appreciate your advice.

    Thanks!
When it didn't come apart easily, thought I would ask to avoid one of those "OS" moments.

Have you reached above the headliner and tried pushing the grommet edges out from inside the car?

No i haven't done anything except make a half hearted attempt. I think the grommet has a wire reinforcement in it.
It's 111 degrees out side right now.
Will have to wait until in the morning as or before the sun comes up.
