A few questions I have an aftermarket converter. I want to install because I've been smelling rotten. Eggs for about two years. Under heavy acceleration to get on the highway
I seen the resignator with the 2 coolerlines for the heater behind the converter. A local shop looked at my converter says he thinks it's okay, but he didn't do a full pressure test. He just suck they 02 center out and says he thinks my converter is okay. 02 sensor looked clean He's willing to charge me a hundred dollars labor to weld, my converter on.
As I was looking on the internet, there's a guy called the exhaust tech that don't know much about the corer lines in the resignator but what he did was he cut open the resonator. What i saw on YouTube and inside the resonator it's completely empty. There's no baffles, nothing So my question is, wouldn't it be okay to bypass them? Them heater hose lines to the resignator and have the shop. Make me a straight pipe. And just get rid of that big, giant resignator what would happen? It's just slower heater in the winter. Any help would be appreciated.Thank you.
I'd rather pay this shop to weld my converter on then climb under the car myself because this prius, in my driveway is always unbalanced. I don't feel safe underneath it, and i've had a lot of cars.

I imagine temporarily you could just take the two hoses off of the heater bulb barb then together so loop is kept proper . Then 8 guess you could have ship drop that thing pipe to converter and done . Yes slow heat. Not sure about possible codes or I'm monitors .

Well if it completely empty; I guess you don't need it.:(
I do wonder how you keep coolant in your car, because you'd be pumping it out of your exhaust pipe if that resonator was completely empty.

If you look at the picture, you can see that the exhaust pipe is a boa constrictor digesting four elephants:

The first elephant (well, the leftmost, I guess that would be last in order of swallowing) is a catalytic converter.

The next one is also a catalytic converter. After that is the EHRS heat exchanger (seen here with a handy sign saying so), and the one after that is a sub muffler, a/k/a resonator.

No I heard about getting rid of it. On gasket masters site. The shop on you tube cut open one. Its empty inside. As far as heat
It would bypass the heat. So I may have in winter slower heat when cold.
2 options for me. Leave it alone and just replace the converter. Or get rid of it.
