Yesterday when I was driving, I got the high temp (red thermometer) warning on my dash for about 3 seconds. When I scanned for engine codes, I got: P148F. What does this mean? Is it the inverter's water pump, or the engines? If I buy the parts, can I fix this myself? Thanks!
Also, how do I check if my inverter water pump is working? Also also, should I replace the thermostat too?
What is the level of the engine coolant in the reservoir? If the level is between the minimum and maximum level, it is time to replace the pump. The P148F code is for the engine water pump. Replace it ASAP. A replacement OEM pump is preferred. Cheap aftermarket pumps only last a short time. You do not want to do this job twice.
P148F means the engine water pump is spinning faster than expected. Possible reasons could include that the plastic impeller has broken, so now it can spin without doing real work pumping water ... or that the coolant level is very low, so the pump can spin without real work pumping water.
