    Note to self - let a mechanic do this. What a complicated and mysterious set of operations.

    I looked in the 2004 Gen 2 brake manual and didn't find any notes about doing this without Techstream. Searched for "not using" and it didn't find a section that corresponded to the "When not using Techstream" section in that attachment.

    On the other hand, I did stumble upon this classic:

    which is pretty close to "smack the case with a wrench and look for changes"

    Intermittent problems caused by wire harnesses and connectors are, I think, more common than those caused by cases, which may go some way to explaining why they included the "jiggle harness and connectors" test but not the "smack case with wrench" test.

    (In the early, introductory sections of repair manuals, they also mention some other classics, like the "heat with a hair dryer" test. I'm not sure those sections always get included in the PDF repair manual versions that float around.)
