Wrapping stock intake with tinfoil bubble and then heat resistant wrap?

    The use of the term redline is for the internal combustion engine. It makes no difference if the car is non-hybrid versus a hybrid vehicle.

    So just gas light away any thermal effects caused by going over +2200 RPM on a Prius because there is no established redline on the Prius. Got it, any other pedantic tangents you’d like to go over or would you like to discuss the actualities of the heat soaking in discussing?

    I am just here for the entertainment factor. I do not have anything better to do at the moment.

    FYI, there is a redline for the Prius, but you can not rev the engine that high because the ECM limits the rpm before you get to redline. So, the actual redline of the Prius engine is not an issue that anyone should be concerned with unless you can override the firmware in the ECM.

    Redline a Prius that has a fixed Planetary transmission? How is that even possible? Or do you just like to pretend?

    His definition of redline is much different than most other people's definition of redline.

    The fan can't rob the coolant of heat unless the coolant is actually flowing through the radiator.

    When the engine is warming up from a cold start in winter, there's no coolant flow through the radiator. That's literally the thermostat's job: It prevents coolant flow through the radiator until there's enough heat to be worth dumping some via airflow, whether it be natural or forced.

    If your thermostat is working correctly, no additional amount of extra fan usage will matter.

    You can get hood scoop kits from places like Summit racing.

    I’ve already established what I mean by redlining on a Prius, anything over +2200 RPM which increases the heat of the engine beyond 188 degrees.

    No what I meant was if there are two fans blowing the second I start the car on in winter it will take longer to warm up because those fans are blowing low temperature air from outside to the inside of the engine bay. We don’t want that in the winter.

    I don’t want a scoop that you need to create an opening in the hood for, just one that goes more towards the grill.

    Since the system shuts off the engine water pump immediately with the engine, that logic is far more likely to cause heat soaking. Better redesign the water pump control circuit.

    Just when I thought we were dealing with a challenged mind we get "pedantry" twice.

    The electric engine water pump does not turn off when the engine stops at a red light.

    You'd almost think with the number of knowledgeable Prius forum members here, any special Prius-related use of 'redline' would have been more visibly used prior to you posting about it.

    Even so, I would wonder why the community would not have coined some other term, rather than overloading an already-existing one with an already-known, different meaning?

    I’m not a term maker and try to use words already existing to help better understand what I’m discussing but it’s common sense that anything over 2200 RPM is going to give 2-4 degrees of engine bay heat to deal with higher than the average 188 most Prius’s in the summer should be sitting at during the majority of the drive.

    Back to the point of the post, I’m going to wrap the intake to slightly isolate it from the DIRECT thermal radiation coming from the engine.
