battle welp I just pulled hid off my 05 dropped on halogen 88 dollar housings wired the bulbs as per a picture I sent here . The cars gone now. All that was working on the car when it was taken out of service the bulbs and housings and all that sitting in the back of a Suzuki aerio out of weather probably headed to junk shortly.

Ha ha! Well, you have certainly a ton more experience on the Prius flock than I do, so what can I say? Relays or not?
I just like relays, LOL, and its a personal decision(y). Maybe it was the dash board fire in my 63 Studebaker that made me extra cautious.:(

P.S. I can tell we aren't going to change each other's mind.

I was just trying to figure out what the relays are doing. when turn on the 05 car there's a click on fuse box and then lights up so I assume I'm going thru a dedicated relay already they're? Those square things in the fuse box and in lock panel . I thot all the big draw items had relays from factory? Well my '09 work car is the same so will see if it messed up been like 6 years now . On halogen on a customers car we've the ceramic H4 bulb connections to help with heat.

FWIW; why not put LED bulbs in them - avoid the heat and current draw of the halogens? The modern LED replacement bulbs are pretty good and you don't have to resort to ceramic bulb connectors.

When I did my LED conversion a few years ago, the LED lamps weren't that great, but I guess they are probably better now.

Darn, now you've got me thinking. I am going to have to check that out but it's too hot outside right now. My wife likes to drive with the headlights on all the time, so they are always drawing current. I hope I don't have a situation of a relay turning on a relay.

IMHO: You need the LED lamps with the cooling fins and built-in fans. Those without are basically junk and doesn't output the lumens needed to be a decent headlamp.
Added benefit; it's easier on your relays, but I have noticed some flickering in DRL mode - works fine with headlamps on.

I've had nothing but trouble with the fan units and as soon as aux came out with S series and others make similar. I've never looked back my s1 are 5 years old still crazy bright . Fans always making a racket at stop lights. I think the later Cobb elements dissipate heat better maybe not sure but I've got em about 30 customers cars . They seem to love em . Even In hid to led conversions
