My 2008 Prius water pump is leaking so I went to change it and I notice there is no belt on it. I been looking online and every gen 2 has a belt for the water pump. Maybe some don’t?
Yes, on the Gen 2, there should be a belt. The engine will not survive for very long without it, so if the engine still runs, you must have just lost it. Do not run the engine until you have a new belt installed. You will notice on your 2010 Gen 3, there is no belt as the water pump on that generation is electric.
They break all time no un notices until they do.spised to be they're see the serpentine pulley same on pump and idler . It's not just left off like that on.purpose .
