    Hello!
I'm here because my 2014 Prius V with 67K miles has stalled TWICE on me in 5 months. Both times I was able to drive it long enough on electric motor to survive though I'm traumatized by high speed fail. Is it a lemon?
Stall #1 was on a quiet street, so it was annoying but not scary. Toyota dealer fix was to replace intake manifold and related hoses/gaskets: $1,700! Invoice says "Multiple codes stored B278C, B2312, U0155, U0101, U1133, P2111."
Stall #2 was on a busy interstate at high speed in the middle of nowhere AZ with my husband and two children. That was TERRIFYING. Same Toyota dealer replaced throttle body. Code P2119. $1,050.
My car has 70,000 miles, which I take to be low for this vehicle.
I've done all the regularly scheduled maintenance. Now I'm scared to drive this car on the highway. Any advice in non-technical language would be greatly appreciated.

What dashboard indicators displayed? Have all TSBs and consumer program updates to hybrid systems been performed? How old is the 12 Volt auxiliary battery?

Again, have all firmware update TSBs been accomplished for the IPM (intelligent power module) and the Motor Generator ECU, together the Inverter Motor Generator (IMG) and related controls?

You can check your VIN on the Toyota Owners site and determine whether any TSBs are outstanding.

do you know te history of the car? something seems fishy. maybe a flood car, rolled back odometer, etc.

do not go back to that dealer, without a lawyer in tow.

Any update on this? Was there a rattle or any other noise to go with the shut-down?

Once the pri let's you down (in my case 1100 miles from home) it's just hard to trust it. You realize how screwed u are when these things happen.
I sold mine recently and had many new parts..... glad to see it gone but vehicle I'm driving now is Pontiac Vibe... really a toy matrix. I can fix anything on this car.... and 35 mpg...... but the 45 mpg was nice but you lose all the savings when it breaks down.

There is also a current recall for certain prius v that can cause ot to stall at high speeds. It said something about faulty face safe in the computer. I will see if I can find the info

The recall linked above (the 20TA10 recall) involves kind of a once-and-done failure: a component in the inverter lets out the magic smoke, and then a bug in the firmware responds with 'off' instead of limp-home. You can power-cycle the car, and maybe get limp-home that way, but the magic smoke from the inverter is still gone, until parts are replaced.

So if this is a thread about recurring stalls with normal operation in between, probably something else is behind it.

Thanks. I wondered about that. Could brake booster and master cylinder issues cause intermittent stalls??

Hi. Thank you for this post. My 2014 Prius V stalls, does not go in to limp mode, and can be restarted. Eventually all the lights go away, including the one for the hybrid inverter. Dealer says MG1 and MG2 pins have abnormal readings; recommend transmission replacement. Car drives well, then stalls. Just wondering if you had any suggestions for this predicament.

Has the inverter coolant pump been checked or changed? If the EV system overheats; that'll shut everything down.

Oh yeah, abnormal readings on the MG1 and MG2 pins!!

Is there another dealer in your town who can BS more convincingly offer a second opinion? :D

My best suggestion really is to read the actual trouble codes you've got and post those here.
