I have techstream on a virtual machine on my laptop. Works for most things, but the air bleed process takes several tries.

When i first got my j2534 cable from amazon, it came with a cracked version on a cd. i installed onto a nuked laptop that i didnt care about, and it worked fine til the laptop died completely. I found a virtual installation and have been using that to do this latest brake actuator replacement.

Could the extra layer between the obd2 port and the virtual machine cause issues with the ABS initialization? Theres so many valves and solenoids that are engaged, i wonder if split second delays could cause issues

    It's possible.

There also are several versions of the OBD2 cable out there with various reports of erratic functionality. Some "work just fine", others have faults when attempting bidirectional procedures or tests (such as brake bleeding).

As always, it's a good idea to key a battery charger on the 12V while doing ABS bleed - relearn functions,
