Maybe it's not appropriate to combine obits here. Bill Moyers has died aged 91. Very well known as a journalist and observer of America. Lalo Schifrin has died aged 93. Apparently well known only for composing 'Mission Impossible' in 1966 that tagged along with MI became movies. He wrote other movie themes but as a musician there was a lot more to his mission. Orchestral conductor and composer. He wrote an opera in Nahuatl and studied with Olivier Messiaen!
Heard about Bill from state funded media. He was one of the good ones. I've one of his books in my audiobook library....
I don't think I know anything by Schifrin. Did get to sing Messaien's O sacrum convivium years ago. (That isn't us.)
Well, it's four parts. I was in a roughly 16-voice group, so ~ 4 on a part. The group in the above 'tube looks to be about 5 on a part. Edit: ah. I see he designed it for either chœur à quatre voix mixtes ou quatre solistes. We did not attempt it with quatre solistes. We also didn't use an orgue.
Ya I watched another not on youtube. We don't have that here w/o vpn. Since have viewed other versions on bilibili (which is the low-friction video viewer here).
a full month later (hope not being to impatience ) any obits of note on yous side of the big ball that you know of and can share as an expatriate in your domicile with out fear ?
Tom Lehrer - Wikipedia died about a week ago. Sad to say I hadn't heard of him before that, but I likely have heard some of his songs.
Well, it is nearly a year late, but there is an upcoming fest that in a sideway way sort of pays tribute to bassist Phil Lesh. He died in October. My wife is smart enough to forcefully suggest I not attend. Grahame Lesh readies for S.F.’s Grateful Dead milestone celebration
I have never followed a mothership link before. You broaden my world. I get the impression that any interesting deaths around here would be reported in South China Morning Post. Locally inaccessible, but search as ye will. Ah memories. That was a favorite of our @hkmb, who no longer posts here.
The mention of mothership led me to believe you were referring to Hampton -- that term had a couple of meanings in relation to the coliseum. Follow the link if you want to further your mind. Don't worry it doesn't open audio. Grateful Dead Retrospective: Hampton Coliseum '79–'92 & The Odyssey Of The Mothership [Audio]
No, @bisco gave a mothership link. Whether or not I am a deadhead is not a good topic for us here. I believe I could lose readers either way.
You might -- probably not --enjoy the following. It starts with a quote I always loved from Bisco's fave writer...well after the woman who authored Pokey Puppy. Then again, maybe you have to be a daughter?? Anyway, a friend sent it my way https://fountainheadpress.com/keyconcepts/assets/gold.pdf
