I have all the design work on a backup camera cover/wiper; I have all the plans, schematics, parts and I have the 3D print files for the mounting housing. But I don't think I'll need it. The lens doesn't seem to get dirty or muddy when driving on wet roads. It seems to be located where air currents are favorable for keeping it clean. I think I'll be shelving this project for now.
i've had good luck with mine as well, on a number of different cars. i make sure to hit it when washing the car, but other than that it is fine
I also own a VW Golf, which keeps the camera clean under a motorized cover, the VW badge. Keeps the sunlight from degrading the lens also. It only opens up when you shift into reverse. Such a good idea, I expected most cars would have something similar by now. I was disappointed that my new car had nothing like that, so I was inspired to design this idea. The biggest challenge would be getting the wires from the device to the power without cutting holes in the body.
You need to start your own YouTube Channel or tic-toc channel. You could make millions..... Title it "Finding solutions for non-existent problems". or "How to overthink everything!!" The sound of hoofbeats is in the air!! 99.999% of people think to themselves "it must be horses running around!!" You on the other hand think "omg, there's zebras running around!!"
