Definitely make sure that you do the electrical plug connection first because once you get the atom glue holding you don't want to touch it at all anymore.

Thanks, ChapmanF, for the advice. Is it the fact that the connection is only partly connected that could cause overheating issues? Or is it using the tape that would be a problem? Just curious. I'll take your advice and not do it with tape.

PriusCamper, thanks. I considered making the connection 1st and then trying to get the tab to stick with the Atom. But that electrical wire is very stiff, short, and thick. I don't think I could bend it in a way that would stick when applied to the Atom. I had trouble just getting the tab alone to stick with the Atom on my 1st attempt.

The wire is stiff, short, and thick, to make sure it can carry the necessary current without overheating, and that's the same reason you want to ensure its connection to the tab is fully, not partially, made.

This afternoon I got the tab to stick with the Atom. I ordered 5 grams of Atom this time and thought from their description and images that it would come in syringes and be good for multiple applications. I had planned on putting more on after it hardened to really get it stick on there. But instead of the syringes I got a one use pouch just like when I ordered the 2.5 grams.

It takes 24 hours to fully harden but I am going to wait until next weekend to attach the wire just to be sure it is as hard as possible.

    It works!

Today I attached the wire to the tab and the rear defroster now works. The wire is so stiff I was worried that it could dislodge the tab but the tab seems quite well attached. I tried bending the wire into position a few times to take off some of the force and I think it will be OK.

I had a slight problem because I put so much Atom on that I wasn't able to put the wire all the way on at first. With a very small file, I filed the Atom down easily. I was surprised how soft it was. Then I slipped the wire all the way on by using a large screwdriver on one end and pushing the wire down on the other. I thought the screwdriver would take some of the force off.

I tested and could feel the heat coming to the window. How satisfying to have fixed this.

Thanks again everyone who helped me do this. I very much appreciate your time!
