    Howdy,

I just inherited a 2002 Prius with under 164k miles and it has a dead 12v battery. I called the toyota dealership and they told me to get a S46B24R, which come to find out is the second gen battery.

I've seen conflicting things on here about what people are using for Gen 1 batteries, some people use L&G AGMs and some use 51R AGM

    what do y'all recommend?

I've used a regular ol' 51R battery, nothing fancy, no AGM. Years ago I converted the Prius battery clamps to SAE size so I could connect to any domestic car battery. I'm currently using a lawn tractor battery from BatteriesPlus: https://www.batteriesplus.com/productdetails/sliu1rxhd. You can bolt directly to the spade lugs or get conversion hardware.

There are similar, cheaper batteries from other sources, e.g., Walwart.
