Hello I am going to pick up a new hybrid battery from Toyota for a 2014 Prius. I have used the OEM packs for second generation repair in the past. I was wondering if there is any difference in the modules the put in the gen 2 and gen 3. I'm aware of the case and connection differences but are they using the same primearth modules for both versions? Why not use a gen 3 pack? A $500 difference for 28 modules, so I'd like to know if there is any good reason to pay the extra money. I've rebuilt several traction batteries so a module swap to different case is not an issue. Thank you
Modules same but in gen3 case you get parts you do not in gen2. If not plug in same thru at least 16 I believe .
You'd be able to lv bus bars etc undo the I do t know how many tee niny screws on bottom tray and lift racked assembly .
Thanks, If the modules are exactly the same, stripping and replacing the old modules+bus bars with new takes about 30 minutes, well worth the the savings.
I've never heard the modules called prime Earth but if that the Panasonic 200 volt DC prismatic modules 28 assembly then yeah . I was just saying if one of the batteries is way cheaper like that like the generation 2 you could just lift the rack of 28 modules all with the bus bar still intact and the squeezer rods still on
